Maxwell Planck, CEO & Co-Founder

Max graduated from MIT in 2004 with a degree in computer science (specializing in computer graphics).  After graduation, he worked at Pixar for 10 years as a technical director working on movies like Cars, WALL-E, Up, Brave, and The Good Dinosaur creating creative technology around lighting, shading, animation, and simulation.

He cofounded Oculus Story Studio in 2014 where he produced and supervised some of the early groundbreaking, award winning narrative experiences in VR including Lost, Henry, Dear Angelica, and Wolves in the Walls. Max won an Emmy for his work with Henry and Wolves in the Walls. He won a Lumiere and Peabody Award for Dear Angelica.

Max loves video games, board games, jigsaw puzzles, immersive theater (he saw Speakeasy SF 5 times!), role playing games like Dungeons & Dragons (DM for 4 years). He grew up adoring game shows like Double Dare and Legends of the Hidden Temple.

Max’s biggest adventure to date: Max and his wife are obsessed with escape rooms, having escaped 90+ together. His proudest and most adventurous moment is when he used the final puzzle of an escape room to propose.

Milad Nazeri, Managing Partner

Milad Nazeri has had an eclectic career from audio engineering and producing music for TV/FILM, editing commercials and creating visual effects for some of the biggest agencies in NYC, and being a software developer for web and VR in San Francisco.

Milad's life is an endless ADD adventure that always makes room for serendipity. His favorite adventure has been renting an Airbnb in the middle of nowhere in Germany and shooting a documentary making music and VR with this best friend all around Europe. The last two days he flew his then-girlfriend to Berlin to propose on the steps of a palace in Potsdam, because sure why not?

JacquieB_hello.jpg

Jacquie Barnbrook, Host

Jaquie has dedicated her whole life to some form of entertainment including the unintentional prat fall. Growing up she was in every play, dance recital, skating show, and living room karaoke extravaganza she could get entry to. Her focus has always been comedy and she has had the privilege to work as an actor - on camera, performance capture and voice for Film, Television, Gaming and Virtual Reality.

Some of her greatest but more serious adventures started 20+ years ago in visual effects, animation and VR working with A level Producers and Directors both as a Producer and an Actor. Her most notable achievement was Producing and co-Directing “The ChubbChubbs!” which won an Academy Award in 2002. She is a member of SAG-AFTRA, The Producers Guild of America, The British Academy, The Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences and a board member of The Impro Theatre in Los Angeles. That said, she works very hard to encourage joy and side-splitting laughter to all that she creates.
